Hi. We're Clarity05.
As designers and writers, we are obsessed with communicating your critical brand and marketing messages.

The Clarity05 partners have decades of experience helping clients through our skills in design, advertising and web development. We’ve learned that:

  • Effectiveness requires clarity — a clear, powerful message
  • Clarity requires an in-depth understanding of you, your customers and your competition
  • Clients are best served when they work directly with the creative team

If you would like more clarity and effectiveness from your marketing communications efforts, please call us at (415) 252-1700.

Sarah Davis
Sarah began her professional art direction career at J. Walter Thompson, San Francisco, in 1988, on accounts ranging from Sprint to American-Hawaii Cruise Line and Chevron.

After deciding that she didn't like to bill clients for three-martini lunches (nor three chardonnay lunches, three Pabst lunches, etc.), she teamed with Barrett Rossie in 1994 to form Rossie/Davis.

As a creative director, Sarah draws upon strong conceptual and design abilities to deliver distinctive work in a variety of media. Yet she is a strong advocate for clients' concerns, and has enjoyed long relationships with Kabira Technologies, Burton-Ching Ltd. and other Rossie/Davis clients.

Barrett J. Rossie
Barrett has written copy for clients large and small since 1981. This makes him very old by industry standards. So he stays young by associating with partners who are just out of art school, relatively speaking.

Barrett worked at a number of agencies known for outstanding creative work: The Martin Agency, Hal Riney & Partners, and Wieden + Kennedy, where he worked on the Nike account as well as Oregon Tourism.

In 1994, Barrett teamed with Sarah Davis to form Rossie/Davis, serving clients such as Burton-Ching, See's Candies, and Kabira Technologies.

Mary Foyder
As a graphic designer, Mary is primarily of the print flavor. She has quite a bit of experience working in identity design and branding. She believes that for designers, personality is almost as important as skill set, especially when working directly with the client. She values flexibility in dealing with changing business environments and different media.

Even so, we're big fans of Mary's skill set.

Her previous experience includes living and working internationally, participating in several internships, and holding a design position at Citigate Lloyd Northover in London.

Mary received her BFA in Graphic Design from Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo, Michigan, a city whose official slogan is "Yes, there really is a Kalamazoo."

Jef Lear
Jef calls himself a Creative Technologist as well as a Graphic and Sound Designer. Trained in the ancient art of print design, he is now a practitioner of modern web technologies and information design. He wields these great forces in tandem to create a synergy of thoughtful and clear design, balanced with useful online tools, all built using lots of web-tech acronyms that only the nerdiest of artists would appreciate.

He also received his BFA in Graphic Design from Western Michigan alongside Mary, but he still swears he didn't copy her test answers, and wonders why people can't just mind their own business anyway.

Most recent e-friends include: Kohler, Disney, U.S. Army, Orbitz, BP, Dade-Behring, Seven Worldwide, New Black, The Royal Order, SageTV, ClueBar, and IME by Liquidus.
